Why this kind of app is expensive

The upload button is cheap. Everything after it is not: transcoding video for every device, generating thumbnails, and serving media fast enough that a feed doesn't stutter is its own specialism.

A ranked feed is a standing piece of infrastructure, not a one-off feature — it needs a scoring model, and moderation has to run continuously the moment strangers can post to strangers.

The cheapest honest version of this idea is photos only, no video, chronological feed instead of ranked. That lands nearer $20k–$45k.
