Why this kind of app is expensive

Real-time voice channels that dozens of people can drop in and out of freely are live media infrastructure, the same class of problem as a video call product.

A granular roles-and-permissions system has to scale from a two-person server to a community of thousands without becoming unmanageable.

Moderation at community scale is a continuous operational cost — spam, raids, and abuse show up the moment a server goes public.

A bot platform means a stable public API third parties build entire businesses on, which raises the bar on backward compatibility.

The cheapest honest version of this idea is text channels only, no voice, no bot platform at launch. That lands nearer $25k–$56k.
