Why this kind of app is expensive

A marketplace has to be trustworthy enough for a seller to list inventory and trustworthy enough for a buyer to trust a stranger's shop — two products sharing one checkout.

Search has to handle handmade, one-off, variant-heavy inventory, which does not behave like a standard product catalog.

Shipping is real-world logistics — labels, tracking, customs — wired into order state, and payments have to route around sellers, so payouts and refunds each need their own handling.

The cheapest honest version of this idea is single category, manual seller approval, no in-app messaging at launch. That lands nearer $26k–$59k.
