Why this kind of app is expensive

Verifying that someone actually lives in the neighborhood they are posting to is the whole trust model of the product, and it is a real identity problem, not a form field.

A feed scoped to an arbitrary, ever-shifting neighborhood boundary is a different data model from a normal follow-based feed.

Moderation matters more here than most social apps because posts are about real neighbors and real addresses, and local marketplace listings inside a community feed combine the trust problems of a marketplace and a social network at once.

The cheapest honest version of this idea is no address verification, city-level feed instead of hyperlocal, no marketplace listings. That lands nearer $18k–$41k.
